What do you say, autumn or fall? Whichever it is, autumn is fast approaching and it’s time to start preparing your Autumn themed lessons and some EFL ESL Autumn songs for children for your classes. There are so many different songs for kids available about Autumn and Halloween so I’ve split them into two posts; the Top 10 EFL ESL Halloween songs are here. We’re going to concentrate on falling leaves, autumn colors and lots of other Fall themes in this week’s Top 10. Get your scarf and your gloves, it’s getting chilly out there. Let’s go and kick some leaves with my Top 10 EFL ESL Autumn Songs for children.
Autumn Leaves are Falling Down by The Learning Station
This song is just one of a whole collection of Autumn themed songs for children produced by The Learning Station. There are a lot of them that could be useful depending on which way you looking at the autumn theme with your class. There are songs about colors, Orange, Yellow, Red and Brown and also a Scarecrow Song plus lots more. So do have a look at the whole collection to see which song will be more useful to you.
I chose this song instead of the others because it’s a good, general song to introduce autumn and the falling leaves to your class. You can do lots of TPR for the falling leaves and then practice actions for raking up the leaves. If you wanted, you could add lots of other Fall things to do as well with the same tune. It’s a song that’s easy to adapt for all different ages and levels so should be very useful in your classes.
Why do Leaves change Color? by Super Simple Songs
A sweet song with a cute video of a family of squirrels, birds and mice to explain why the leaves change color in the fall in an easy to understand way. It’s a good video to watch with little kids and talk about leaves, animals, the forest and different colors.
Fall and Autumn Counting Song for Kids – How Many Leaves do you see? by ELF Kids Videos
Let’s count the falling leaves! This is an autumn counting song for little children counting the leaves in the tree and then adding colors too. The song only goes up to 3 but you could of course count as many leaves as you want and practice asking how many. You could make a tree poster for your classroom for the kids to stick leaves onto and count and then make them fall off. As you’re probably going to be doing this near the beginning of the school year (if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere at least), this is a good way to combine counting which may be new to smaller kids with the autumn theme.
Autumn Fairy Song by Mr Brown’s Music World
Older children will like this song with lots of different autumn images and a catchy tune to sing along to. It’s got lots of ideas that you could use in an autumn lesson: animals, migrating swallows, fairies painting leaves and throwing them from trees. This would be a great song to sing for parents or perform for other classes with plenty of actions to join in with. There’s a lot going on in this song and you could probably create a whole story or show out of it.
Fall/Autumn Song for Kids – Leaf Little Leaf by Music Box Kids
Another very sweet song about the last leaf remaining on the tree and the little rabbit who is waiting to help it when it falls. If you made the tree poster I talked about above or drew a tree on the board, you could also use it as part of a lesson about how trees change during the year and follow that leaf from when it grows in spring to when it falls in the autumn. As well as being used in an autumn lesson, you could use this in a lesson about friendship or helping other people.
Autumn by Minidisco – Kids Songs – Nursery Rhymes
A rainy, windy Autumn day song looking at weather, autumn clothing and what you can do in the forest in Autumn. Practice splashing in puddles and playing in the rain as you sing along with this. What else can you see in the forest? Do you like the rain and the wind? You can use this in a lesson on autumn weather or things to do in the autumn. Use it as a base to think of lots of other fun things to do in Autumn and adapt the words to those to practice them.
The Autumn Song for Kids by NeuroticFilmsOficial
An easy to sing along with song for all ages. It talks about all the different things you can see and find in the fall, especially the fruit, nuts and vegetables. You could use it if you’re talking about forest animals and what they eat. You could also use it as part of a harvest festival lesson teaching about different food.
Autumn Harvest BBC TV CBeebies Song by S.W.Storm
Something a bit different that would great for a harvest festival lesson or an autumn class party. Dance along with the dancers in the video and sing along about the colors and all the things you can find in autumn. It would also be fun if you’re doing a lesson about how autumn and harvest are celebrated in different countries. What other traditions can you find?
It’s Fall Song | Autumn Season by Little Story Bug
I love this song! It is so much fun to sing along with Miss Tracey and dance like the twirling leaves. This would be a good song for any age group and I think most kids will love it. Practice colors and leaf movements and pretend to be leaves. Maybe after you’ve learned the song you could make leaf collages or paintings to show what you’ve been singing about.
Autumn Song for Kids – Fall into Fall by Panther and Bunnycat Funny Songs for Kids
What fun things can you do in Autumn? Lots of activities of everything you can think of about Autumn plus pumpkin spice lattes. This is a fun song for older kids to sing along with and then think of other activities to do in Autumn. Maybe you could go outside with your class and do some of these activities. Or make a pumpkin spice latte in class. The sky is the limit!
